WNY Canopy Of Prayer
Freedom Church will be joining the WNY Canopy of Prayer! Our church’s commitment was to take one day each month is helping to build an unbroken canopy of prayer over our region. Together, we’re believing for transformation, healing, and revival in Western New York. Our goal is to make this light; fitting into your congregation, schedule and systems easily. Our Canopy of Prayer Day: Every 3rd Monday of the month - Please sign up below for an hour clot once a month to be part of this Prayer Initiative.

January 2026:

THEME: NEW BEGINNINGS

Focus: Praying for New Beginnings: As we begin this new year, we turn our hearts to the God who moves in the fullness of time (Galatians 4:4). We pray to encounter Him in a new way—to slow down, listen, and yield to His leading.


We are asking the Holy Spirit to draw us into genuine repentance, renewal, and deeper alignment with His purposes- taking on the mind of Christ. 


We pray together, as we prepare for change, for unity and transformation in WNY.


1. New Beginnings in Personal Renewal

Key Scripture: “Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me.” — Psalm 51:10

Prayer Points:

  • Pray for a fresh hunger for God in hearts across WNY (Psalm 42:1–2).
  • Ask the Lord to bring healing, repentance, and restoration to weary souls (Joel 2:12–13).
  • Pray for renewed strength in those who feel discouraged or spiritually dry (Isaiah 40:31).
  • Pray that believers walk in their new identity in Christ (2 Corinthians 5:17).


2. New Beginnings in the Church

Key Scripture: “Behold, I am doing a new thing… I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.” — Isaiah 43:19

Prayer Points:

  • Pray for unity and love to deepen among pastors and congregations (John 17:21).
  • Ask God to revive churches with fresh vision and boldness (Habakkuk 2:2).
  • Pray for spiritual gifts to be awakened and activated (1 Corinthians 12:4–7).
  • Pray for an outpouring of the Holy Spirit leading to renewal and mission (Acts 1:8).


3. New Beginnings in Families & the Next Generation

Key Scripture: “For I will pour water on the thirsty land… I will pour My Spirit upon your offspring.” — Isaiah 44:3

Prayer Points:

  • Pray for healing and restoration in marriages and family relationships (Colossians 3:12–14).
  • Pray that children and teens encounter God personally and deeply (Psalm 78:4).
  • Ask God to strengthen parents and caregivers with wisdom and peace (James 1:5).
  • Pray for protection and purpose over the next generation (Jeremiah 29:11).


4. New Beginnings in Our Region & Communities

Key Scripture: “Seek the peace and prosperity of the city… Pray to the Lord for it.” — Jeremiah 29:7


Prayer Points:

  • Pray for peace, justice, and righteousness to flourish in every community (Isaiah 1:17).
  • Ask God to bless local leaders, educators, first responders, and community builders (1 Timothy 2:1–2).
  • Pray for new opportunities, economic renewal, and hope to rise across Western New York (Psalm 90:17).
  • Pray that the light of Christ shines in workplaces, schools, and neighborhoods (Matthew 5:14–16).

5. New Beginnings for Israel

Key Scripture: “Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: ‘May those who love you be secure.’” — Psalm 122:6

Prayer Points:

  • Pray for peace, protection, and stability throughout Israel (Psalm 122:6–7).
  • Ask God to comfort families and communities affected by conflict (Psalm 46:1).
  • Pray for wisdom for leaders in Israel and all involved in regional decisions (James 1:5).
  • Pray that God’s purposes are fulfilled and His peace prevails in the land (Isaiah 62:6–7).


6. New Beginnings in Our Churches’ Personal Needs

Key Scripture: “Cast all your cares on Him, because He cares for you.” — 1 Peter 5:7

Prayer Points:

This final focus is intentionally open, allowing each congregation to seek God for the specific new beginnings needed within their own church family.

February Prayer

THEME: ROOTED IN LOVE, GROWING IN UNITY

Focus: During a month when the world celebrates love through Valentine’s Day, we turn our hearts toward the holy, deeper, and enduring love found in Christ. As we reflect on unity and honor the rich heritage celebrated during Black History Month, we pray for relationships to be healed, strengthened and renewed. Trusting the promise that God is able to do far more than all we ask, think, or imagine, we ask to be filled with the fullness of God. May His love overflow through us as we continue stretching the canopy of prayer over our region.

Prayer Points

1. Personal Revival
  • “…that according to the riches of his glory he may grant you to be strengthened with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith—that you, being rooted and grounded in love.” — Ephesians 3:16–17
  • “Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me.” — Psalm 51:10


Pray for repentant hearts, renewal by the Holy Spirit, and lives deeply rooted and grounded in Christ’s love—transformed into His image by His truth and presence.


2. The Church to Arise and Shine in Unity


  • “To him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever. Amen.” — Ephesians 3:21
  • “Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the Lord has risen upon you.” — Isaiah 60:1
  • “Behold, how good and how pleasant it is when brothers dwell in unity!” — Psalm 133:1


Pray for the Church to arise and shine across our region—walking boldly together in humility, righteousness, reconciliation, and unity. As darkness covers the earth, may God’s glory be clearly seen upon the Church of Western New York.


3. Families and Generations

  • “For this reason I bow my knees before the Father, from whom every family in heaven and on earth is named.” — Ephesians 3:14–15
  • “He will turn the hearts of the fathers to the children and the hearts of the children to their fathers.” — Malachi 4:6


Pray for healing and restoration in marriages and families, for hearts to be turned toward one another, and for faith to be passed from generation to generation. Pray for fathers to walk in their God-given role within their families.


4. Government Leaders and America


  • “Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us.” — Ephesians 3:20
  • "Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom." - 2 Corinthians 3:17


Pray for local, state, and national leaders to govern with wisdom, justice, and humility, relying on God’s guidance beyond human understanding. Pray for righteous leaders to be raised up and positioned to serve well. 

May the Spirit of the Lord bring freedom, integrity, and peace throughout our nation.

5. Our Communities (schools, business, media, arts and entertainment, neighbors)


  • “…that you may have strength to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth.” — Ephesians 3:18
  • “The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few. Therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest.” — Luke 10:2
  • “…to open their eyes, so that they may turn from darkness to light and from the power of Satan to God.” — Acts 26:18


Pray for God’s glory to be revealed throughout our communities—in schools, businesses, media, arts and entertainment, and neighborhoods. Ask the Lord to send laborers, open eyes, turn hearts from darkness to light, and transform lives through the hope and truth of Christ as the Church boldly arises.

6. Israel 


  • “Pray for the peace of Jerusalem! ‘May they be secure who love you!’” Psalm 122:6 (ESV)


Pray for peace, protection, and God’s redemptive purposes to be fulfilled in Israel.

Pray for protection over those guarding Israel's gates.


7. Your Churches’ Personal Needs


  • “And to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fullness of God. Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us.” Ephesians 3:19–20 (ESV)


This final prayer point is intentionally open, allowing each congregation to seek God for the specific needs within their own church family.


***Pray God's hand over America—bring protection, provision, and unity as communities recover from these winter storms. Strengthen first responders and comfort those who have lost much.

March Prayers

THEME: March Forth: Buffalo and WNY Arising as a City and Region of His Light


March is a call to awakening and marching forth. As spring arrives and light increases in the natural world, may His Church awaken and shine brightly through prayerlove, unity, and obedience; allowing Jesus to shine brightly.


Prayer Focus: 

You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot.

You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Matthew 5:13-14


Together, we pray for the church to move forward as salt and light, trusting that God is awakening His people for such a time as this, spreading and expanding Kingdom influence. 


POINTS

  1. Unbelievers to be saved

  • “The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light.” — Isaiah 9:2
  • “The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.” — John 1:5
  • “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” — Romans 10:13


Pray that the light of Christ would penetrate hearts across our region. Ask God to remove spiritual blindness, awaken hunger for truth, and draw many to salvation. Pray for believers to walk boldly, shining out His light and compassionately arise as living witnesses of the gospel.

2. Revival
  • Search me, O God, and know my heart… and lead me in the way everlasting. Psalm 139:23–24
  • Repent… so that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord. Acts 3:19
  • You are the salt of the earth… You are the light of the world. Matthew 5:13–14


Pray that the Church across Buffalo and Western New York would return wholeheartedly to the Lord through personal repentance and humble surrender. Ask God to cleanse hearts, restore first love, and ignite true revival that begins within and overflows outward. Pray that, renewed by His presence, the Church would rise as salt and light—preserving truth, dispelling darkness, and visibly reflecting Christ in every sphere of life.


3. The church in Unity .

  • That they may all be one… so that the world may believe. John 17:21
  • Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit. Ephesians 4:3
  • How good and pleasant it is when brothers dwell in unity. Psalm 133:1


Pray for deep unity among churches, leaders, and believers across Buffalo and Western New York. Ask God to remove division, offense, and competition, replacing them with humility, love, and shared mission. Pray that unified light would strengthen the Church’s witness.


4. Families and Life
  • Choose life, that you and your offspring may live. Deuteronomy 30:19
  • Children are a heritage from the Lord. Psalm 127:3
  • As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord. Joshua 24:15


Pray for families to be strengthened and aligned with God’s design. Ask God to protect life, restore marriages, heal broken relationships, and guard children and the unborn. Pray for a generation that knows the Lord, seeks His face, and carries His light forward.


5. Racial reconciliation.
  • He Himself is our peace… making one new humanity. Ephesians 2:14–16
  • You are all one in Christ Jesus. Galatians 3:28
  • Blessed are the peacemakers. Matthew 5:9


Pray for healing and reconciliation across racial and cultural divides. Ask God to expose injustice, heal wounds, and restore trust. Pray that the Church would model God’s heart for unity and peace, reflecting His Kingdom to the world.


6. Communities - 
(schools, business, media, arts and entertainment, neighbors)
  • Let your light shine before others. Matthew 5:16
  • The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make His face shine upon you. Numbers 6:24–26
  • Whatever you do… do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus. Colossians 3:17


Pray a covering of God’s presence, protection, and peace over our region and its communities. Pray that God’s light would shine in every sector of community life, guiding decisions, shaping culture, and revealing truth. Ask for wisdom, integrity, creativity, and courage for those who serve and lead in these spaces. 


7. Local and national government leaders.
  • Prayers… be made for kings and all who are in authority. 1 Timothy 2:1–2
  • When the righteous thrive, the people rejoice. Proverbs 29:2
  • By Me kings reign. Proverbs 8:15


Pray for leaders to govern with wisdom, humility, and justice. Ask God to surround them with righteous counsel, restrain corruption, and guide decisions that protect life and promote peace. Pray that leadership would reflect God’s purposes.

April Prayers

April Theme: Spring - A Season of Resurrection and Life.


April Prayer Focus

Will You not revive us again, that Your people may rejoice in You? Psalm 85:6

He is not here, for He has risen, as He said..... Matthew 28:6


May this season of spring bring both physical and spiritual resurrection to Western New York —awakening hearts, restoring hope, and drawing this region into a deeper life in Him. 

May His resurrection power fill every Easter service, and draw all who attend into a life-changing encounter with Jesus.

(If praying after Easter, pray for those who attended the Easter services. God would water the seeds of His Word that were planted in their hearts)


Prayer Points:

1. Unbelievers

Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live, John 11:25

Reveal Yourself as the resurrection and the life to those who do not yet know You, awakening faith and drawing them into new life.


2. Revival

but they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint. Isaiah 40:31

Renew and revive Your people as they wait on You, lifting them into fresh strength and deeper dependence on Your Spirit being ready when You say GO.


3. Unity

That they may all be one, just as you, Father, are in me, and I in you, that they also may be in us, so that the world may believe that you have sent me. John 17:21

Knit your people together in unity across Western New York, create divine connections, that Your love and power would be seen and draw many to You.


4. Families

But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord. Joshua 24:15

Bring restoration and new life to families, strengthening homes to walk in Your ways and reflect Your love.


5. Sanctity of Life

Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born I consecrated you.... 

Jeremiah 1:5

Awaken a deep reverence for the sanctity of life across this region, protecting and valuing every life from conception to natural end.


6. Community (schools, business, media, arts and entertainment, neighborhoods)

You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven. Matthew 5:14-16

Let Your resurrection life shine through every sphere of community, bringing truth, creativity, integrity, and hope.


7. Local Government

For the Lord gives wisdom; from His mouth come knowledge and understanding. 

Proverbs 2:6

Fill local and state leaders with wisdom and righteousness, guiding decisions that bring life, justice, and flourishing to Western New York.

May Theme: Glorify God Among The Nations, Seeking Him in all Generations

(From the 2026 National Day of Prayer)


May Prayer Focus

“Tell of His glory among the nations, His wonderful deeds among all the peoples.”

1 Chronicles 16:24


As we unite across Western New York and the nation, we fix our hearts on the glory of God, remembering His faithfulness for 250 years, contending for His purposes, and inviting His presence to cover every generation and community.


May His glory rest upon Western New York and flow outward—restoring, uniting, and revealing His goodness in every place, bringing healing, justice, peace, and protection from evil, hatred and violence. 


We commit to glorify God among the nations, seeking Him in all generations.


Prayer Points:

1. REPENTANCE & HUMILITY

Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me. Psalm 51:10

Confess our sins and repent of pride. Purify and renew us. Shape our attitudes and actions to reflect Jesus.


2. TURNING BACK TO GOD

if my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land.

2 Chronicles 7:14

We humble ourselves, seek His face, and turn from wicked ways that He may heal our land.


3. REDEDICATION TO GOD’S GLORY

So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God. 

1 Corinthians 10:31

We rededicate our lives and communities to glorify God in all things. That His name would be lifted high in our region and nation, drawing hearts back to Him.


4. THANKSGIVING FOR GOD’S FAITHFULNESS

Oh give thanks to the Lord, for he is good, for his steadfast love endures forever! Psalm 107:1

We thank the Lord for His mercy, guidance, and faithfulness through generations and today.


5. PRAYER FOR LEADERS

First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people, for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way. 1 Timothy 2:1–2

Pray He grants wisdom, integrity, and courage to all who lead and serve.


6. GOD’S KINGDOM IN EVERY SPHERE

Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Matthew 6:10

Pray His will be done in families, church, education, business, government, and media.


7. GENERATIONAL AWAKENING

One generation shall commend your works to another, and shall declare your mighty acts. 

Psalm 145:4

That every generation would rise together, unify in prayer and carry a legacy of faith into the future as we hunger for Him.
